BSNL's Andhra Pradesh Circle today launched an end-to-end 'Mobile Video Solution' for providing world class TV through GSM mobile handsets to the people in the state.
Addressing a press conference here, BSNL AP circle Chief General Manager S Ramalingam said the 'mimobi.tv- Mobile Video on Demand and Live TV'services would be provided to the subscribers. Users would be able to watch up to 25-30 TV channels content live or on demand.
Stating that the live content would be deffered by 5 to 10 minutes from the actual broadcast on the TV, he said the new facility was developed in partnership with 'Apalya Technologies Private Limited'.
Initially, 12 channels would be broadcast from the services and the number will be increased to 30 by the end of this year, he said, adding the new services would be offered free of cost for the first month. He said the new Mobile TV services would be first available in the state wherever there was GPRS facility.
To a query, the official said the total number of broadband connections in the state was 1,00,172. It would be increased to 2.5 lakh next year. The total investment to multiply broadband facility was Rs 18 crore in 2007-08.
