Opt in email marketing is an effective way to send promotional material like newsletters, catalogs updates and other promotional material to website visitors who have agreed to be updated or emailed on a regular basis.

Through e-mail the subscriber will receive updates or promotional material through email. If the promotional email sparks the subscriber’s interest they will follow the link in the email and will be directed back to the website to purchase or gather more information about the offer. On the internet there are numerous sites that offer the same product or service and competition can get really tight making it is easy to get overlooked, so promotional material is a fantastic way for the owners to remind their subscribers that they still exist and also to display what they have to offer.

Site owners use various opt-in marketing strategies to grab a person’s attention and to get them wanting more. They range from a very simple, to very outlandish and others just lie in between. Very effective marketing strategies will have the reader begging for more so they are more than willing to go back to the site to ponder the offer. The more persuasive you can be in your marketing the more likelihood you are of a sale.

Many companies and site owners present their promotional material in a wide variety of concepts. Even though everyone has their own trade mark style or design, what is important to remember is that the content and the articles are what keeps the attention of the potential customer locked on to the opt-in marketing material not the outline or presentation. Creativity is the key in marketing.

Light, creative and original promotional material will leave the subscriber begging for more rather than lining up to unsubscribe to your emails. A light hearted e-mail rather than a stuffy business proposal peaks interest in the reader. Although you want your customer to take you and your business seriously it is also important to show them a more personal touch and to make them aware that you can have some fun as well.

To pique interest in the reader add some color, some light hearted images or photo's or articles that relate to you, things that will keep the reader in a light mood. Make your newsletter or promotional material as eye catching and grabbing as you possibly can.

It is really important to build trust and rapport between you and your customer and to establish your credibility. Have good content and articles, and make sure they are informative but not too stuffy. You need to let go of the professional jargon and "talk" to your customers. It may be worth investing in an experienced copy writer to write your material as they should be able to build trust and establish your credibility in their copy.

Never appear overeager or too persuasive in your material. A good article and content needs to outline the benefits of your product or service and why they, the reader need what you are offering. It needs to entertain the reader while leading them to buy from you.

Try to gather information and do some research. Try to work out what your target client needs before you write your material as you need to be as clear as possible. Don't leave people guessing. You should lead them to you not the other way round. Be clear and always explain to the reader what they need to do in a manner that won't confuse them.

Providing images of what you have to offer is also a good idea. If people know what you have for them, they are more than likely going to want more. Provide only enough to encourage them to go to you site for more.
