Alvarion, a supplier of solutions in information and communications, has announced that Bharti Airtel, India’s private telecom carrier, is using their integrated WiMAX solution - the Breezemax 3300 system - to build WiMAX networks across India.
With deployments currently in eight cities, Bharti Airtel is using WiMAX to enhance its broadband, fixed and cellular network infrastructure to offer affordable broadband data services to customers in new markets and has plans to expand this network to more cities throughout India.
Alvarion’s Breezemax 3300 is an extension of its WiMAX platform operating in 3.3gHz, the frequency band specifically licensed for WIMAX services in India. The company informed that the platform is designed according to the IEEE 802.16 standards and uses OFDM technology for advanced non-line-of-sight (NLOS) functionality. It supports broadband speeds and quality of service (QoS) to enable carriers to offer triple play broadband services.
