The World Communication Awards constituted by Total Telecom, is an unequivocal acknowledgement of companies and individuals responsible for innovations, achievements and great new services in the global communication industry. The awards were announced on 28 November 2007, at an event in London that was attended by some of the world's leading brands in the communications industry.

Airtel was chosen as the Best Brand over some leading international brands such as iiNet Limited, Orange, StarHub Ltd, TEO LT, AB and The Egyptian Company for Mobile Services (Mobinil)
Commenting on Airtel's recognition as the Best Mobile Operator, Mr. Sanjay Kapoor, President, Mobile Services, Airtel, said, "This award bears testimony to Airtel’s single-minded focus on customer delight, product & service innovation, and world class connectivity. This is a notable achievement by the entire Airtel team." In the Best Mobile Operator category, the other global operators in the final short-list were - 3, Orange, T-Mobile UK and Telstra. Together, there were more than 200 entries across categories for the awards.
Constituted in 1999 by Total Telecom, the World Communication Awards are decided by an independent panel of eminent jury members related to the communication industry such as - Mr. David Molony, Ovum, Principal Analyst, IP Enterprise practice, Mr. Michael Bartholomew, Director, The European Telecommunications Network Operators' Association, Mr. Sean Collins, KPMG Global Communications and Media Practice, Mr. Arjang Zadeh, Managing Partner, Network Practice, Accenture amongst others. The awards seek to recognize and awards excellence among communication providers across the globe.
