Patna --- The BSNL is offering free booking of the broadband internet connection -- DataOne -- till December 25 and to allure the subscribers has also offered free services for the next two months for which no monthly rentals would be charged.
The BSNL is keen to get a larger share of the broadband internet subscribers. Private internet service providers like Satyam, Reliance and Airtel are competing with one another and also with the BSNL for a larger share of the broadband internet service market in the state.
Patna Telephones' principal general manager (PGM) Sunil Parihar said the conversion of dial-up internet connection into broadband internet connection is also free.
For this, the aspiring subscribers are required to submit only an application with the sub-divisional engineer, internet, Pataliputra exchange.
No rentals will be charged for conversion connections also for the next two months.The monthly rental for broadband connection, it may be mentioned, is Rs 250.
A modem costing Rs 1,200 will have to be purchased for the broadband connection. The number of DataOne subscribers is currently 4,000 and dial-up subscribers number 8,000.
The BSNL aims to get converted all the 8,000 dial-up connections into broadband connections, Parihar said.
Patna Telephones has also offered university students an opportunity to earn Rs 200 for every broadband internet connection which they will bring to the BSNL by using their own network and enterprise.
The benefit will be both ways as the students will earn money and the number of BSNL broadband connections will swell, Parihar said, adding the interesting students can get materials, brochure etc to communicate with the prospective subscribers from the BSNL.
